An exciting day in October… GEM invited all area pastors and their wives to enjoy an American pancake breakfast at the new Mission and Volunteer Center at the Farm of Encouragement. Members of the Board, June and Larry Overstreet and Buster Hale, along with Dr. Eliane Felix helped Wanda and Carl King prepare and serve eggs, bacon, and pancakes in the newly-equipped, spacious kitchen.
Over 55 people ate, worshipped, prayed, and sang in the great room. We are so grateful for the help of Pr. Arivaldo, Pr. Claudio and their church members, and our indispensable hands-on partner, Roberto Flores.
Participants were excited about ministry opportunities and ways the churches could use the space for training and retreats. A committee of local pastors, along with Roberto, is working out the guidelines for local use. The first GEM volunteer team is scheduled to stay in the center in July of this year.
To provide further accommodations four separate suites were added. With a large inviting porch, these hotel-like rooms will be useful for couples or families or can provide space for at least 16 additional guests.
THANK YOU for your contributions. How can we express the deep gratitude we have for those who have been a part of building the Farm of Encouragement? We invite you to come and be a part of what God is going to do there.
The final steps are to purchase mattresses, ceiling fans, and air conditioners for both facilities. Here is a list of our needs. Please share them with your family, your life group or your church. We invite you to partner with us in the future ministry that will take place on the Farm of Encouragement.
